dm me :))
Hi, this is my entry (#5)
Song
Youngblood by 5 Seconds of Summer
Explanation
I showed two couples in my edit. The left side is a middle aged couple, while the other one is a young couple (or should I say youngblood
).
The young couple shows that they are in love and sweet, something the other couple used to have. (based on the lyric: Remember the words you told me, love me 'til the day I die Surrender my everything 'cause you made me believe youβre mine)
Then the sad expression of the middle aged couple is because their relationship has become unstable. (based on the lyric: Lately our conversations end like itβs the last goodbye)
Hey I actually thought of participating here so I choose a no. long back Can u tell me what song u gave me becos I actually forgot about it totally.
thank you for entering and great interpretation!
Itβs so pretty!! Tysm for entering!!

Hm, can you maybe try and look through your private messages where we wouldβve sent you the song? It should be there
Thank you again for holding this contest. Iβm so, so excited to have made my first edit!!
Song
Hello, World by Louie Zong
Inspiration
I had never heard this song before and was completely inspired when I listened to it. Itβs from the perspective of a computer/program that may be broken, may be feeling, and is certainly finding their voice. I was touched by the lyrics and immediately thought of the film βHerβ and the AI character discovering emotions/herself.
With this in mind, I began working with the colour palettes used in the film and attempted to create a sort of inverted version of the classic film poster. It was important to me to keep some of the brighter oranges/reds, but to invert the palette so that blue was the most prominent colour. My goal was to illustrate an AI character that contrasts the Her poster/MC, Theodore; thereβs something about his naive belief in his own feelings that I think perfectly contrasts the lyrics of the song. Through these lyrics, I was able to conceive an AI that doesnβt know how to process what theyβre feeling or if itβs even real. How does a program know that theyβve gained the ability to feel? To be conscious? Could the change in feeling/consciousness cause an AI to think of themselves as broken?
When it came to the edit, it was very important to me to try to capture a vacant but eerie expression on my AI character. I added the layers of βelectric lightingβ to further enforce the AI theme, but also to focus on the AI characterβs heart, as I feel thatβs essential to the song. In my mind, this AI is starting to feel, but does not understand what that means or how to process it. I wanted to include the lyrics in the background to visually look a bit like programming, but also because the lyrics are truly the heart of the song.
I actually added in some of the white outline around the character to make it look like sheβs a program glitching into the world (this is especially evident in the video version of the edit). I think her feeling causes her to feel broken, but actually make her more real, if that makes sense?
I also learned that βHello, world.β was the first lesson in all programming language tutorials and became the default phrase for computers to say since 1974!!

Iβve posted the video version of the edit on IG, as thatβs how I originally conceived it. I wasnβt sure if I was meant to only enter with an image, but the video is too big for to post on the forum anyway
edit to add I got number 62
