You should not worry about reads. It will drain you, it will make you bitter. You can lose yourself that way. You need to remember why did you even start writing. If it’s just for reads, then you will always be bitter. Some stories get noticed quick others take time. Mine took me 1 year and a half and within that time I editing my story 100 hundred times to improve. In the end, it does not matter the reads. You need to remember why did you start writing. If your story is not in the millions so what who cares, if big authors are not recommended or noticing your story who cares. Be happy for the 50 something reads you got. Even if it’s just one person who read it be grateful that someone took time to read your story. Who cares if big authors don’t recommend stories. You write because you enjoy it its fun. I have read many stories that have little reads and their stories are actually better than a lot of stories that are in the Millions. Only because authors have millions does not mean their story is better. Some get to that by luck. Again who cares about the reads. If you want to support other authors, do it actions speak louder than words.
Exactly, so the list that @MezoriaThorn created is indeed a list of underrated authors, in their opinion.
It’s about people who don’t get noticed and who should because they deserve to
No, it isn’t everybody. Some stories just aren’t very good. That’s the unfortunate truth. Most people could write a good story if they had the education and practice, but that doesn’t mean that’s what happens.
Of course I know what underrated means. I just noticed that these people don’t get much recognition.
I don’t care about the reads… I care about authors who don’t get noticed EVER
Forgive me, but you seem to keep contradicting yourself. You say that you don’t care about the reads, but you’ve spent most of the comments here talking about how unfair it is that you don’t have reads and screenshotting your story stats.
They do compared to others
Look at the IG account and you’ll see, yes, these stories aren’t perfect but they deserve to be treated like any other story
This isn’t what “underrated” means. Something is underrated when it is better than the attention and reviews it is getting.
Even popular things can be underrated if they’re known for being hated.
Because people were asking about it
I don’t care if my stories have 1 read or 1m reads
Then why do you keep screenshotting your reads?
I’ve never seen that
All I know is that small author stories don’t get anywhere and I’m gonna change that in 2019
Because it’s extremely sad that they get pushed to the side
As I’ve said before, saying you’re going to singlehandedly change it is completely ignoring all of the work people like @amberose put into finding and promoting good underappreciated authors.
For example, you say you want to help, but did you send any suggestions to the link I originally gave? I can tell you that you didn’t because I have website stats.
You say you want to change this, but if you do, you should support people who are already doing the work.
And @MezoriaThorn 's list was in fact a list of authors that they feel don’t get the recognition they deserve. Thanks for the mention btw ![]()
Honestly answer me this (or maybe don’t):
Let’s say Episode suddenly turned around and said that every weekly shelf from now on will only feature stories with <2k reads. They’re also going to add a shelf under every genre with “Hidden Gem” stories (let’s say <5k reads ordered by recently updated).
Now let’s say a year later your story still hasn’t been featured and you don’t have any more reads. Are you still going to be upset? Or are you going to be happy because all these other small authors gained recognition over the year?
You say that everyone deserves recognition, but all that will do is push the number for who’s a “small author”. If more writers get reads, it’s not going to be the case that more stories are automatically popular. Come a year’s time if that’s the case, can you honestly tell me that you won’t complain that your story only has 20 thousand reads when the “big authors” have 1 billion? It’s all relative
And I feel like I need to state again that I will always support the recognition of good stories. However, claiming that all stories deserve reads just increases the saturation of the platform.
