I feel you. I love advanced directing myself, but when it’s used a bit too much in story, it turns me off. I do not mean to be rude to any author who uses a lot of advanced directing in their story, but sometimes it’s not needed.

Me too! I really enjoy love triangles.
I just don’t like the ones where neither LIs has redeeming qualities, or when the author pushes for us to choose one LI over the other.

I am old school. I do not hate the trend of mini-games, but I have to admit that they kind of turn me off. No idea why. Perhaps because I only want to read and get to know the characters.

I hate when an author gives you a choice, then “friends” or “roommates” peer pressure you into it. Why give the choice then? It makes the character seem weak and easily swayed to do things they don’t want to. Just make a scene of the MC going to a damn party and be done with it. Why the unnecessary choice?

Mini Unpopular Opinion:

The whole, “Oh my gawd, food is life.” “Cupcakes and pizza, oh my gawd this is life.” “I’ll do insert here if you promise cupcakes.” cliche is so overused, cringe, and I never thought is was funny. We’ve all read those scenes and seen many characters act like that and I just sit there and watch with a poker face and just thinking (cough cough try not to choke bitch). How in the hell is a character acting a clown over some food supposed to be funny? This whole cliche is just bummy and it doesn’t appeal to me, I said what I said and I’ll say it again.

I can’t stand it when it takes way too long for the characters to change. All you need to do is the dusting animation 2 times max and then @CHARACTER changes to an_outfit. And the “it’s realistic” excuse doesn’t apply when this story has 3 LI’s, a mary sue MC and a school where you can literally do whatever you want. I don’t want to spend 5 minutes previewing the same outfit in 6 colours.

And please stop shaming introvert MCs. Not everyone likes going to the mall/shopping centre after 7 hours of school. Not everyone likes to talk to strangers in a club. Not everyone likes social interaction all the time!

My Unpopular Opinions:
PT. 3

• Episode is corny and lame as hell for all their ads only promoting sexual situations instead promoting the aspects of actually good unique stories or even writing your own.
• The spotlight art style is annoying and I don’t like reading any stories that have it, it’s pointless to me and having characters pop in and out of the scene makes my head hurt.
• It’s annoying when the main cast are just stock characters and the author never changes their features or even any of the characters clothes once in awhile.
• You don’t need to have so many characters in the background in every scene because sometimes authors just use only stock characters, reuse them in every single scene, and it makes my phone lag.
• When characters are having a conversation, it annoys me when the author puts a “pause for a beat” command after every sentence.
• The “K-Pop Dance” animation is overused and cringe.
• It’s annoying when authors change the music in five seconds because the scene changes or the music layers over each other.
• When there’s no music and sound effects the story in the story at all feels a little bland and weird.
• Advance overlays, very advance directing, and sometimes mini games, I feel are sometimes unnecessary and can take me out of the story’s immersion real quick.
• I actually really like timed choices, but what I don’t like is when I don’t have any time to read the choices and decide.
• I don’t really mind what a story’s cover look like because I can’t get me a decent cover either, as long as the story is good and the cover isn’t characters half naked in some type sexual position or situation.
• I wish we could delete stories we never published but I guess archiving them is a great alternative.
• You don’t need to fade in and out every time you go into a new scene.
• If you tell me, “Oh, this story gets better by chapter insert here” I’m not going to bother to read your story because I don’t feel like wasting passes for something that has a probability of being good and didn’t catch my interest in the first place.
• I rarely like breaking the fourth wall jokes.
• The instant feeling of an author in front of that black background when you first start the story is just like “nope.”
• The whole introduction of characters is overused, boring, and makes the story trash.
• The author talking to the MC breaks my immersion and doesn’t appeal to me.
• When a reader has a legit question or comment, I don’t get why some authors have to be so mean.
• The mobile writers portal was very annoying because it never had anymore updates, they’re taking it down, it was buggy as hell, and it never compared to the actual writers portal even though it could’ve been a great idea, it was executed poorly.
