Hope this turns out like the Animation update debacle not too long ago, where enough awareness and outspokenness/outcry can help keep the forums open, and maybe even revive it to save it.

Honestly? This is a terrible idea. Introducing a big and questionable change when a fandom/community is slowing down isnāt going to fix the problemā¦ Itāll only make it worse. It says a lot that the community has offered several better solutions to the problem the Episode team wanted to fix. Itās as many others have said, if Episode really wants to push for their Discord server, they need to also keep the forums alive.
I imagine Iām not the first or only person to think that this will backfire badly. While some people are willing/able to adapt to this kind of change, not everyone will accept the changes. It happened when Episode introduced the newer artstyles and it happened when they tried updating the animations. They need to communicate with the community for once before making such a big decision. These choices affect us too.
In my experiences, Iāve always appreciated the simplicity of the forums: itās easy to find topics relevant to what Iām looking for and I can always tune in to new conversations whenever. Itās also more user-friendly.
Discord has an extensive history of trolls, bullies, creeps, harassmentā¦ the list goes on. Itās also not a great platform to be hosting forums on. It will be difficult to find topics relevant to what weāre searching for, and I think that will push even more people away.
If they still go through with closing the forums, where do the rest of the community even go? : /

after some time in the Discord server, I will say the vibe there is way different than here. I prefer the forums site than the discord but since they want to shut us down Iāll be on the discord server I guess from now on.

while i understand Episodeās choice to migrate to Discord, I wonāt lie and say I wonāt be disappointed. Game/business related discord servers always die fast. Faster than I say the forums are headed now. What worries me most, however, is opportunities for productive on-topic conversation. Discord is the worst when it comes to this. If we had any chance for our voices to be heard on the forums, itās definitely going to be worst with Discord. Iām curious on how theyāre going to set it up . . .

i agree. discord always felt impersonal to me. the forums here feels a lot more intimate like youāre having a face-to-face conversation and not just talking to someone through a screen lol.

Thatās another thing that worries me is people who come here to promote their background drives, art, stories, etc. Ofc theyāll still be able to promote on discord, but I feel a lot less people will be able to see it. And not just because less people will migrate to discord.
Here, we have our own threads and people can comment on it whenever they want and provide positive feedback whether itās in that same day, or week, or month. thereās not really an expiration date. With discord, anything you send is practically gone after other people drown your post out with their own. For anyone to see the stuff your promoting, it has to be the right time and right place.

Yeah, thatās going to be (theoretically) an absolute mess of Discord. Itās going to get flooded and you wonāt be able to find anything.

Thatās my fear too, especially for someone like me whoās not on social media (and refuse to get it). Yes I may be screwing myself over, I donāt care. I aināt giving Facebook and Twitter (not calling it X) my time and attention.

exactly!! i feel like a lot of new writers are gonna give up because they canāt find a solution to any of the errors theyāre having which wouldāve been on the forums
