So you donāt think that before, the same type of stories were roaming the trending section over and over again? Whether they ranked #50 or #10 they were almost always the same. Now you canāt tell me those are the small authors you are talking about?

Wow now your just being plain mean, how bout getting off your high horse, you say you work hard but a lot of authors do and this update gives them a chance to get seen instead of having the sane stories trending all the time

I donāt care about this update, Iām kinda happy I saw some new stories. But they should get rid of stories like āDONT READā so it can be better

You have every right to hold off publishing if you feel like the rank you have been given now isnāt just. Itās your story. We were initially talking about how those in writer payments canāt complain about their rank and relate it to how much or few money they make. But I guess some got too caught up in it or misunderstood your point. Again, you have every right to act and publish your story the way you want as long as you donāt shove the blame on the innocent.

You can only remove a story with a support ticket, so unless the authors want to remove it no one can do anything

Yes. You have to send your writer portal email and story url. It takes two days the least bc of support ticket answer time

Guysā:pray: First of all, thereās a glitch thatās occurring. Iām guessing that since episode changed the ranking system, some error might have occured. The stories are all jumbled up. I have analyzed the patterns and many others such as as @EliseC have done it too. What we are facing right now is an unfixed glitch. Iām really happy to see my all time favs like Dripping Mascara and Elemental Wars! However itās clear that the section is glitching. Like @Mei my first assumption was that they are using retention. Thatās literally the first thought that came to my mind. After analyzing the sections, that does not seem to be the case. Also the drama section is not matching with the drama stories in the trending section. Which means that the new update is glitching and needs to be fixed. I am not fighting for the old system to be back. We havenāt witnessed the new one properly because of the glitches. I understand how @thebutterfly_episode is feeling. I hope episode or @Liz or any other employee clarifies the situation.

I donāt understand that comment at all and it doesnāt make sense to me. First things first, wrong. A lot of ātop storiesā have dropped down ranks tremendously (more than I think is just but anyway) so that is just not true. About the publishing a new story and then having your rank ācalculatingā doesnāt affect the amount of reads you get at all. It just gets displayed less often?
Yeah, but thatās probably because e.g. a system based on retention rate isnāt entirely perfect either. Those few random DONT READ stories that pop up here and there might have gotten 1 read in total and thus a retention ofā¦ 100% ? I donāt know lol, but in that case itās probably just a flaw that needs to be fixed later. I think Episode is trying to merge both factors; amount of reads and retention rate together in a way, but weāll see.

Oooh, just a little context for that comment thoughā¦ That was added to the discussion long before the glitch/update had fully kicked in the way that it has. So @Annieways was just expressing the opinion she had come to after reading @Lizās original postā¦ That comment was said even before the update to the original post. So at the time, all the top stories were in their usual spots.

I wouldnāt be surprised if the once-a-day update happened at the exact time of when the original glitch would usually occur, thus locking everyoneās story in their ārandomā spot in the ranks. Lol.

As many others mentioned what you see currently is clearly a glitch. Actually the biggest one Iāve ever seen, so yeah my comment doesnāt make any sense at this point, but I still think it would be true if the app was working properly.
Why do you think publishing a new story then having your rank ācalculatingā doesnāt affect the amount of reads? To me this means no matter how many reads you get within the first 48 hours, your story wonāt be visible AT ALL in the trending, so your story will be read only by people who follow you/saw you promoting it and decided to search for it. But you have no chance to get noticed by people scrolling in the trending/genre sections, so you may lose potential new readers in the first two days.
