What Are Some Pepeeves You Have In Stories?

Stories with +1 li’s definitely. The author often promotes one way more the other and I literally end up feeling bad for the other li.
Also, when the mc acts straight up dumb :woman_facepalming:

The thing I hate most is wrong use of layers. I saw it in a story the mc and Li have a kiss the Li who’s in rear animation is at the layer below of mc it looks so creepy like them kissing facing the opposite direction more like their backs kissing , for me a kiss means a lot, let it be episode or rl.
No customisation is also a thing which I hate, k understand the authors see their characters in a way, but the reason I downloaded this app was coz I was amused with the customisation feature, taking it away from the story gives me that low vibes, I can go with limited ofcourse.
Multiple Li’s and mc gets torn between them she’s crying over each one like what the hell dude just man up and pick one please I’m not here to see Ur depressed MC’s

Yeah, I really don’t like when the MC is dumb. Like not regular dumb but just doesn’t see things that was right in front of them. And when the only thing they worry about is their boy/girl drama.

I also hate it when we have a miniature dress up game and we want to try one something else but the author makes us leave the room anyways, like that crop did not look cute on Ashley let me fix it!

When there’s 2 li’s and the author clearly likes one better. I mean there’s really no point.
When some mean girl comes and kisses the LI and the MC runs away crying and doesn’t listen to the LI

Jealous characters, I understand jealousy but I once read this story where the MC had known the LI for like five minutes and was shaming another woman by saying “I bet she slept her way to the top” like even if she did you just met the guy. She was cheated on by her ex so I get trust issues but she is not in a relationship with him they never even kissed.

Ifkr!
Like, are you some kid? First, Running away from problems’ never the end. And second, have some maturity sis. Can’t you just face the mean girl instead of running away or blaming it on your man when you clearly know that it wasn’t his fault
Not just one or two stories, I’ve literally seen in this every frickin story :woman_facepalming::woman_facepalming:

Yeah its especially makes ya mad when you’re attached to the couple.

Exactly! First of all this happens in almost every story, it’s so annoying! I mean like WTH, who do you think is the bad guy? Plus most of the time the MC is a brat and the LI just keeps up with it, :rage:

Right? I’m like, is there relationship this weak? Was reading these 40 episodes even worth it? lol i use too many question marks

I hate stories with :
• unnecessary drama (ex : The annoying girl tries to kiss the love interest, and of course the MC has to miss the moment when he pushes her away and then decides not to talk to him for 5 episodes, goes to a club to say “f*ck that fuckboy”, kisses someone else and when she learns the truth she regrets it. It’s ANNOYING.

• mean girls, annoying exes. Sometimes it’s just too much and I stop reading the story sorry not sorry.

• Multiple love interests and that there is no choice or point system. Like it’s so annoying when the MC starts a whole monologue in every fucking episode to say that it’s not fair for LIs to still not choose and play with their feelings, but the final choice has to be made in the freakin’ last chapter. Idk just lemme choose already and free the ones I don’t wanna spend my life with author :pensive: :raised_back_of_hand:t5:

• Shitty best-friend (or sisters most of the time) and family. I know it exists, but I feel like I’ve rarely read a story where the MC has a good and healthy circle of family and friends.

• When the LI are brothers or best friends. I hate when the MC is forced to spend time with them, and then be the cause of their fraternity breakup and bromance (and often find no remorse) I just can’t keep reading. The only story I read where the LIs are brothers is Under You, because the choices are literally made by the reader.

• The famous scene of the sexual assault of the MC at the back of the club, who is then rescued by the LI  . Like stop it guys pls.

• An extremely jealous love interest that forbids the MC to be close to men (even men friends like wtf bro), but sees no harm in going to fuck the first girl who shows up. The audacity :star_struck:

• Art scenes. Yes it’s really gorgeous and all but I can’t take it anymore. Like it cuts me off from interacting with the story, and I don’t need to see my characters holding each other for at least 5 minutes, just describe it idk. No hate to the authors who add them though.

• Embarrassing descriptions when interacting with the LI such as “his touch sent electricity through my spine”. Like ksksks i just can’t

Yeah i think i forgot other things, but oh well

I 100% agree with this one, like in one story the LI is quite naive and doesn’t see that one of his oldest friends is interested in him and the MC gets jealous when he hangs out with the friend and not her. The friend tries to manipulate him. I don’t know what happened inbetween apart from her accusing him of cheating he stormed off. Later she was in a bar with her friend and ended up flirty with some guy and saying what a “douche” her boyfriend is. In the end in his thoughts he was like “This was all my fault I am the worst boyfriend ever”. Like no you weren’t but all the blame was on him.

These are the kinds of things I really hate. I don’t know, why doesn’t the MC ever try to communicate with the LI instead of making hasty decisions that she will regret later? Like cmon girl, try to be mature and trust your boyfriend ffs.

Omg I thought I was the only one. Art scenes are often so beautiful but they’re often paired with like 5 mins of description and I prefer dialogue to such long descriptions.

FR it makes me so weirded out lmao

I stated some of these in a few threads:

  • Long narrations (I can make some exceptions)
  • Long episodes that feel like a drag.
  • Common names (Jack, Jill, Hailey/Hayley/Haley, Anna/Ana, Brad, Chad, John/Jon, Mia, and much more)
  • Problematic/inappropriate themes (sxual assault, sx while drunk, mafia, etc.)
  • Horrible influence best friends (I’m looking at you, Litzy from COMPLICATED)
  • Bad boys/girls
  • Mean girls with no character arcs
  • Extremely ugly mean girls (those with the most unnatural facial features I’ve ever seen. I mean, come on, even my mean girl looks pretty with “somewhat” unnatural features because of fillers. Not to brag, though)
  • Makeover stories (haha, nope)
  • (relates to previous one) "I’m so ugly because of my glasses., Glasses, though? I’ve seen cute boys and pretty girls who pull off glasses like it’s nobody’s business.
  • Cultural appropriation or misrepresentation
  • “I’m not like other girls”. Well, you can count on me leaving for you saying that, you internalized misogynistic b*tch
  • People who stay with their partners because they still see some good in them despite them being abusive. Just, wtf?
  • Stories that get way too dramatic (I’m looking at you, Demi Lovato, Haute as Hell and Galactic Game)
  • Gem choices. All kinds of them.
  • Wearing crop tops and booty shorts in high school? How? 🤷🏽
  • The “insult” name “loser”
  • Stories that spoil everything for you in the first episode. (I’m looking at you, Desire…)
  • When that character in that Episode story is so popular that you see them everywhere on Instagram memes (ahem Hunter from Him and I. I hate him now)
  • Stories that glorify cheating (The Pregnancy Game)
  • Annoying characters (for literally no reason, like Alyssa from Him and I and Christopher from The Shaw Brothers)
  • Stories where not much is happening. Boooring.

That’s it for now, but I have many more to come. Maybe I’ll list the rest later.

They be writing a nursery rhyme. :joy: (I am sorry I couldn’t help it)

I am supposed to wear glasses and I think I look really good when I actually wear them. So it really doesn’t make sense.

It’s not an episode story if this line isn’t used.

This is coming from someone with the user name of dramatic, so it must be serious. :joy:

Wow :joy:

There you have it, fictional Episode nerds. Point proven!

I read 3 episode stories (all in the same genre) with this line and immediately removed all of them from the app on my phone. Just—why?

Definitely. I love drama in a story, but not to the point where it’s just irritating. I mean, one problem is solved, and then immediately after, another problem even bigger than the first one is created and it becomes too much for me.

when the options given are all not ideal.

for example (not from a real story btw, just something i’m coming up with to show what i mean)

oh, he’s looking at our lips! what do we do!???

  • Steamy time!

  • Run away!

  • Say a lame excuse!

like what? can’t i ask for consent? or like, maybe flirt to ensure that’s what he’s doing? idk. it feels like a set up sometimes, i get paranoid and automatically assume they’re purposely making an embarrassing scene.
