What do you guys expect in a good story? IMPORTANT

So, guys, I was pretty bored. As an author myself, I would like to know what you readers expect in a good story. Feel free to share your opinions here. It would also help me to make my contest story. So far, I have got the name and start of the plot. PLS NO DRAMA

Notes for a good story: I just made this as a small summary for me.

  • Good personality, choices, plan out a good plot - @LiaMina
  • Good directing and understandable plot - @CoraMae
  • More action scenes, good or bad ending - @lanafrazer_episode
  • Make the readers get attached to the character emotionally - @Akira_new-writer737
  • Choices (simple or complex doesnt matter) must be there - @line123462
  • Make them realistic - @Zhasmin
  • Dont show too much progession in first 3 episodes, have some action, take it slow and mysterious - @nattyjames.epi
  • everyone is a hero of their own, hints in story - @SilverLady
  • show diversity in characters - @BlueViolet

Off the top of my head;

Clear reasons for the actions of the characters
Well rounded personalities
Every scene counts
Every choice counts

Good directing is the first impression!

A character which I will like by his charisma is needed to become desperate for him and what will happen next.

And a plot, which is understandable and full of drama :scream:

Well personally all I do is read lol  but what I really look for is a planned out story line that doesn’t jump all over the place but what I really Like is when your so engrossed in a book you actually have feelings toward a character not that you love them (I mean ig u could though) but you feel sad when there sad or excited when there excited and I think the one thing I love the most about a good story is that one genre can’t define it. There should hardship, and enemies, and love, and friendship, and comedy. Because it makes the story so much more powerful and meaningful

yes, put some emotions to their hardships, friendships, comedy. Your reader should feel some emotions towards your character. Make them real, express their emotions with action and dialogue.

Action, including fights, with enemies. Show more action where the character is going, etc.

A good story can also have a good or bad ending, if you want it to be good or bad.

I agree, write intentionally, plan your plot, readers can tell when you’re lost and just doing whatever to fill space.

okay ty! I will keep that in mind!

choices.

on episode the whole purpose is the choices you make. and I am not expecting big impact full choices. but just some like. go on a date I can pic between cinima or resturant. I take cinima and we go in the cinima. and not been hey look cinima is cloes and then go to the resturant. dont give me a choice if it is not a choice. but I still want choices.

Polished, 3 Dimensional characters with flaws, a back story, hobbies, personality, goals, dreams, fears, and just anything also that can make them seem more realistic

I think the most important is that we can connect with our characters, feels her or his emotions.
I also really like that the story has tons of plot twist and because I’m not a really fan of romance , I get really happy and hooked when there is love but suddenly the author wrote drama, like he lied to you of something like that, I don’t like happy endings lol.
Anyone who can recommends stories that have that?
