Ok, sooooooo, I’m writing a story which I feel really good about (like the general plot) So I might actually try and write more of it and hopefully get it published. (I normally give up after the first thousand lines of episode one.) But I want to know what I should and should not include in my stories. Anything I should add and stay away from? Personal preferences? Should I add CC or no? (I can but I also want to use custom poses so it really depends on what you guys vote on at this point)
Personally when I’m reading a story I like to be able to customise my characters but if I can’t I don’t mind too much. Tbh just write what you want to and that you feel comfortable with
Ok. Thank you! I’ll probably let them customize LIs though I’m mostly staying away from writing romance.
Bump!
A list:
I personally prefer limited CC, as it helps me make a personal touch on a character that the author has envisioned.
Try to stay away from stereotyping people from minority groups, but also include minority groups.
Avoid overused cliches, don’t explore topics that you don’t know enough about (some such topics could include abuse, intergenerational racial trauma, etc).
Get yourself a proofreader to notice any mistakes you might have missed.
Have fun and show off your writing style!
My opinion- the things that you should not put in your story is… ‘ Hello I’m a new writer here, I hope you give this story a chance’ please don’t, also ‘I’m sorry if this chapter is too short’. Something like this makes reader feel unconfortable.
Cc it’s depends. Some of my story have cc and not. Most of reader want me to add CC for LI. Well if you ask me, I say no. They want or not they have too accept it. Then after they read few chapters of my story that don’t have CC, they start to accpt whatever I create for love interest.
I agree with this.
Ok, thank you! I’ll see what I can do. And yes, I honestly also dislike cliche writing.
If you want to include limited customisation, I’m releasing a template guide tomorrow so that authors can easily create their own with the options they want by copying and pasting from my document. It’ll be available on my Linktree which you can access here: https://linktr.ee/lilyplots
I already know how but I’ll make sure to check it out! It might help me if I get an error!
Well, it could help save you some time too haha! It takes so long writing things out manually. Best of luck with your story! x
Thank you!
I personally find stories with no cc, art scenes, 1 LI, advanced directing and coding pretty interesting!
Forced to agree, there’s some great ones out there!
Thanks for the feedback! That what I have planned/going on currently so far! But I’ll probably need to work on my directing a little!
Bump!
So, ultimately it’s up to you as an author.
My own stories are not MC customization, but they do offer the reader the choice to participate and create themselves for those who are like me and can’t play a story without customization.
The thing is, the stories I usually read don’t have a lot of diversity and if they do, the characters have a certain look to them that is obviously meant to pander to the readers who request equality. 9 times out of 10 my character is the darkest avatar that hasn’t been auto generated. This has typically been the case when reading stories written by non-black/poc.
Besides, I connect more when I see a character I’ve fully created. So, if you want to keep the MC’s as is, offer the option for a personal (self insertion) for the readers who would otherwise overlook your work.
I’ll see what I can do! (I tried to make my characters as diverse as possible. (So far I’ve created 5 of my characters the mcs of different races and sizes.)
