I’ve been reading some of the most popular stories and have to admit: I’m disappointed… Their lack of effort, quite basic directing and ‘flavorless’ plots. Not to offend anyone and also not every story is like that but I can’t see how stories like this are hyped so much?
Many smaller author and also me, are literally pouring their hearts out into the visuals and a original storyline and not getting as much recognition.
That’s why I’ve come to the question: What’s more important for readers? More important meaning not exclusivly the one thing or the other (For example: Sh*t visuals but many choices) but just what do you apreciate more in a story.
A. Advanced directing and visuals B. Bigger amount of choices
This is why I am here, and other members in the community who are always here supporting small authors to get recognition. So you are not alone, we as a community, are also and still will be supporting small authors.
Yes some stories do have like a little bit or a bit amount of advance directing but maybe not giving more of that “wow” factor but they’ll still learning, regardless of how much R4R they do, they still get reviews in order to improve on their stories.
Directing and visuals reel me in— poor plot drives me away. Forever.
There’s been more than one instance where I read a story with really impressive directing and just gorgeous, unique aesthetics that had me really pumped for what the author has to offer in the latter episodes. But then I read them and realize it’s poorly written, the characters and their relationships are bland, the plot is rushed, so many awful filler scenes, and I don’t have a clue where the story is going even after 4/5 episodes. That really disappointed me and I stopped reading immediately.
Good directing pulls me in for one chapter and thats it. The story is what keeps me. I won’t read a story just to watch the directing and I dont mind If the story has mediocre directing.
Choices make 0 difference to me.
Actually, choices sometimes turn me off because it stresses me out.
I’d also rather have a story updated more frequently than have to wait for a long time for super advanced directing, since the longer I wait, the less likely I will continue.
I’m guilty of not updating too frequently bc of my directing lol But as a reader I hate it I often then drop the story bc I almost forgot what happened lol
Seeee? Sometimes it’s not the best. But I know that a lot of people really like it. I guess I just think it’s best to be realistic. Enough advanced directing to interest someone but not so much that that’s all that’s good about it.
