I don’t have any strength left after I used my last to finish this piece. I’m still sick and practically nothing has changed : (
So, what do you think about the completed piece?
All criticism open!
P. S. I know eyes don’t look good, don’t remind me ![]()
And quality is not that good either cause my dpi was too small.
I think the eyes look lovely! It is clear that you spent a lot of time on this! The shading is so pretty and the style finds a nice place in-between hyperrealistic and cartoonish. If I had to make any notes, it would be the difference between the coloring on the hands and the coloring on the face. Otherwise, gorgeous work.
I honestly love the eyes, the give the sad look to the character and it looks meaningful!!!
I would suggest learning how to combine hard shades with soft shades cause u mostly use soft ones as I can see. There is a lot of YouTube tutorials out there about this. It will help you define shapes better but the progress is EPIC:sneezing_face:![]()

Great progress, especially as you are poorly.
I would make a few notes, but these are just improvements you can work on, not things you did wrong. And again, more than happy to chat about these in DM like before to give more input and detail as you go ![]()
-
The hair is a little flat and doesn’t really have any volume to it, try to work with some more texture and depth shading/layering, add some flyaway strands and light dependent highlights.
-
The parting is far too clean cut and a bit thick. Working with a hair brush you can make that appear more natural with smudging or easy brush strokes. It will also help to make it thinner and less bold.
-
You are getting there with the eyes, well done. However, a few notes…
There needs to be a slightly darker line for the crease of the eyelid to make that stand out more. Do not use black, rather a darker natural shade that matches the skin tone.
The eyes appear a bit upside down… this is due to a far-too-heavy use of lashes on the underside of the eye. Remember, lashes below the eye tend to be less bold and usually do not accentuate right to the inner corner so much.
Try to add a dash of highlighter to the upper part of the eyelid. Much like make up, a glimmer of highlight there brings them to life more.
-
The nose shading is a bit sharp/hard at the top, making the nose appear too thin for the face. Smooth out the harsher lines and bring it to more of a natural shape that compliments the surrounding features. Also, bolden the nostrils a bit too. And accentuate the creases with a touch of highlighter where it meets the cheeks.
-
The ears are not particularly ear shape. Might be worth a little studying and practicing with ear shapes and shading here.
-
Adding some additional texture to the lips could bring them more to life.
-
The hands look a bit knobbly. That may be the pose though?
-
The clothing could benefit from some added texture and bolder crease lines.
Still, you are doing very well!
I understand what you mean. I already removed the “orange” face light layer. ![]()
Thank you!🩶
Thank you!🩶
I already removed the “orange” color from her face. And I used the color picker. Like you hold or tap on the color from somewhere and then you get it. I posted a process on my Instagram too.
Thank you for tips again!
I didn’t want to use more lights but hair has like 4 layers of different colors but because of the poor quality it can’t really be seen.
The parting - honestly I forgot to fix it ![]()
I have different lashes stamps, as I JUST CANNOT DRAW THEM! But I’ll def work more and more on the eyes.
I wanted to make the nose bigger a bit, but it would ruin the shading so this time it will have to do. ![]()
And ears are another issue. I just can’t draw the inside of them. The outside is how it was in the reference.
It can’t be seen but there is some texture to the lips : )
And I don’t really know how to add clothing te ture even if I have texture cloth brushes.
And yeah, hands are in position like that ![]()
Thank you again girl!🩶🩶🩶
omg one more thing ive noticed , try adding natural strands for the hair will look more realistic and not like its a diff layer
I mean light reflective highlights rather than the natural highlights and lowlights found in hair. I did see the different shades within the colour ![]()
Ohh, yeah, these ones I could always add : )
P. S. Happy Forum anniversary. 🩶
Thanks ![]()
Happy Anniversary!!
