What intrigues you in a story?

Hello there! :sunny::heartbeat:
So I see lots of threads asking about Episode Pet peeves and things that you hate in stories. But I’ve rarely seen threads asking about what you actually like!
So, what do you guys like in a story? And what do you find interesting?
I hope new authors can get ideas of readers/authors input on this!! :two_hearts:

Have a great day/night! :heartbeat:

Ok here are some things I like from Mystery’s and romances.

Mystery- plot twist and cliffhangers
romance- do not make predictable
Mystery- give hidden clues that will make me feel stupid
Romance- Do something unique
Mystery- Make me think the story is predictable but it is really not
Romance- have the guy look cute or have full CC

Unique relationship dinamics, moral dilemmas, deep friendships. Interesting side character subplots. Also, personally, good directing is pretty important to me.

Like a huge plot twist I was not expecting.

Predictability can be so repetitive. In like… every story.

I agree with everyone tbh

Realistic dialogue.
When they don’t fall in love the moment they see each other .
It just feels unrealistic how in some stories the guy sees the girl or visa versa, and boom, “she’s the most special one I’ve ever seen just because of…” her looks?? That’s not love…
So, I guess I like slow burn romance, but not too slow.

There are tons of ways stories could add appeal and it does depend on the person of course. For me however…

I LOVE cliffhangers! Ending with a plot twist or having some sort of major event happen at the end makes me want to read another episode and find out what happened. Stories that I find appealing also are stories that are unique and have a very unique story line and are not based off of another story. Having different characteristics and different elements that are going on in the story make it interesting to see how they come together in the end. Possibly betrayal and mystery within any story is fantastic. Adding any sort of calm drama, or Irony is great within the dialogue. Dramatic Irony is also a great way to spice up any story, add mischief. Subtle comedic moments and all sorts of emotions to make it interesting.

I might like stories too much but, this is what I enjoy. May some agree and some may not. Thank you for letting me share my thoughts @cynthia.episode. Very Much appreciated. :blob_hearts:

Personally I write and I do use all of those methods. I also forgot to add foreshadowing but, its personally just what I like to see.
