Like an introduction of the victim and the victim getting murdered by an unknown person.

Start with the mystery the MC is trying to solve, then write chapters that lead up to that moment.

For example, in my story, the main character is being beaten by the antagonist. Then she tries to run to another place, and is blocked by her doppelganger. The doppelganger knocks the main character out, then goes to the antagonist to ask her for something.

That is the opening scene.

Haha, this is literally how my mystery starts.

But yes, don’t reveal too much of the plot / details yet (basically, keep things mysterious). Reveal to your readers bit by bit.

Maybe a cryptic flashback? Perhaps the villain doing something or a bit of context to the mystery.

A mystery happens after an event is done, you uncover what’s going on.

Your story should NOT build up to the event, that would be suspense.
