What would you see in a fantasy story

I am working on a new fantasy story. but I struggle a bit with events. I am only writing out the plot right now.

and when I say fantasy I dont mean those werewolf vampires, 80% romance story. I mean lord of the rings, Eragon full-on fantasy adventure.

and I know what fantasy is but I am trying to add as much I can hear in the start, the later remove what dont fit. and honestly I all fantasy stories I start writhing seems kinda the same. so I wanted to hear what others think is a most for a fantasy story.

  • War, like you mentioned (Lord of The Rings,) get some inspiration from the movie.
  • Elfs
  • Dwarves
  • Giant Spiders
  • Gollums, etc.
  • Dragons
  • Magic
  • Bats
  • Shadows
  • Swords
  • Bows and Arrows
  • Staffs
    etc.

Whatever other fantasy movie you can think of, get some inspiration from it. Look at the props and creatures, and settings.
