When you’ve both had the discussion and verbally agree that you’re mutually exclusive. I’ve seen situations where one of the participants got the idea that they’re already exclusive, while the other participant saw it entirely different, so one of them got hurt.
Best to just talk it out to avoid unnecessary and avoidable pain, tbh.
