We all need a quiet workplace to work on our stories, or do we?
Tell me. What does your witting place look like? Do you work on a Desktop or Laptop?
Dinning table, desk, bed?
How do you brainstorm your ideas?
Do you keep sticky notes?
Or do you have a notebook dedicated to your story?
Here’s what my “Episode writing Time” place looks like. ♀
I just have a laptop and no I don’t keep notes on paper I just create the story along and if I have idea’s I put write them on my laptop’s sticky notes
sometimes I have free time at school that’s when I work at stories or when I get inspiration at home (or somewhere else). I just grab my phone out of my pocket and start to write something down then when I get home I look at my stories and decide if I can put it in the episode I’m making right now or if I need to write a few more episodes before I can add it in. sometimes my idea’s don’t fit into the first story that I’m making so I’m adding them in my second story.
What does your writing place look like? Do you work on a desktop or laptop? I use a coffee table in my living room to write on. Sometimes I will take my laptop into my bed on weekends if I am inspired enough. How do you brainstorm ideas? I usually listen to music or interpret my dreams. I am actually writing a story now about an odd yet intriguing dream I had recently. I also take inspiration from other Episode stories, but do not copy them. Do you keep sticky notes? I am very personal and hidden about my writing so I don’t keep anything physical. I do decide to keep notes, they are filed on my laptop or kept in Google Documents.
I also need to be listening to music while I write because it keeps me focused and tunes everything else. To keep things organized, I also like to have an estimated date of when I will release stories. I am trying to be very organized and consistent this year, so here we are.
Okay. That’s really cool. It happens to me all the time the only difference I record myself saying the idea and describing it to make sure I don’t forget. Lol my boyfriend says I look like a reporter:joy:
Well my computer is on a table so I guess I work there🤷🏼♀️I’ve already written/planned my whole plot in a notebook (in rl) :)) I would be too scared to have my plot and all my ideas on a computer - what if it erases? Can only trust paper these days😂 I also like writing at night, as my story is quite dark I guess. xx
Usually I’m on my bed or at the dining table, but I sort of just write everywhere. I usually use my laptop or iPad (whichever one isn’t dead). If I want some inspiration, I read my favorite books or look at the ridiculous amount of story prompts I’ve collected over the years. Sticky notes are my friend, they seem to be scattered everywhere I have a mini notebook that I use when I’m on the go, but for the most part I use my precious Google Docs
I have a laptop so I can write wherever I feel like. However, usually, I will sit by my desk, especially if I write during the day. It keeps me motivated and I don’t get as distracted. On rare occasions, I will write in bed but I will most likely not get much done if I do.
I usually walk around thinking about how the world would look like if something changed, either for the better or for the worse. Scenes play out in my head, especially when I listen to music and then I will sit down and try to figure out how I can bring everything together and create a great story.
I keep a lot of notes and I mean a lot. On my computer, I usually keep the outline of the story because it’s impossible to keep track of everything otherwise. Then I have a huge pile of papers that will have all the character’s information so that I always remember to write dialogue and actions that matches their personality. I also keep all the research I have done preparing for the story so that I can always go back to make sure that my story stays true to the time or place it is set.
Same. I get distracted easily while on the bed. My chihuahuas look extra hugable when they’re sleeping so yeah.
I totally understand what you mean. Sometimes I listen to instrumental music and I have a really good scene in my head. I write it down and keep adding notes to it as I go. But I don’t give it my full attention until I’m done with my story. Then I’ll look at all the other ideas and choose from those the best one.
My boyfriend moves them around on purpose because he knows how fustrated I get when I see that my sticky’s have been switched around.
My workplace is my good ol’ computer. I keep my episode tab open, and maybe a backrooms tab open, but then I go with the flow.
As for inspiration, I listen to music that fits the story, and that might give me ideas. It sometimes works. But I usually come up with my best ideas in class and stop what I’m doing and write them down lol. I don’t work with sticky notes. I have random papers all over the place with random ideas on them and sometimes I use them but sometimes I forget about them.
