Hello again Epi Family
!!! I am currently trying to develop the back story for one of my MC/LI and I am not certain which is the more believable/ relatable situational Tragedy to go with. The family dynamics are greatly affected by what has happened to the parent, but I canât quite pin down what happens to the parent.
The topic of this thread discusses a parent sacrificing their life for their child!
For those who may be triggered due to the nature of this topic, please do not click on the hidden details! This is where I will place a brief explanation for the topic of this thread! This does not mean that you have to refrain from participating in the poll. All you need to do is select one of the three words listed from the poll⌠HoweverâŚYou may participate however you feel comfortable. Everyoneâs suggestion/ thoughts and participation is respected and greatly appreciated!!! Thank you for your time!!!

Tragedies Explained
As was briefly mentioned, a parent makes the ultimate sacrifice for their child which is a MC/LI in my story. The siblings of this offspring are very unforgiving because they lost their parent and it causes resentment and dissension within the family.
There are three different choices:
-1) The parent saves their child from drowning in the pool .
-2) The parent saves their child from being hit by a car.
-3) The parent gives birth to the child against the advice of their doctor , knowing that they may not survive from the complications.
Please choose the sacrifice that you believe may be the most relatable based on the circumstances.
For the poll, you may select :
Pool for option #1
Car for option #2
Birth for option #3
So as not to inadvertently trigger those who may be sensitive to this subject. Thank you very much for your support and participation!!!

The birth one sounds interesting! But you gotta be careful <3 make sure you donât end up romanticising the tragedy or make a pro-life statement ~ it should be fine though sjjss I have trust within my lovely and responsible Kaire bear, this is just a little reminder.
However, if itâs something youâd like the children to vaguely remember, then go with the other options that would make the child understand and feel their parentâs love better.

Thank you very much for your insightful response. And yes you have made a fantastic point about not romanticizing the tragedy or making a pro life / pro choice political statement here that could absolutely rub people the wrong way and potentially send the wrong signal about such a touchy subject.
To be completely honest⌠I am on the fence because I am torn between the child/ person being aware and having a relationship with their parent vs the child/person not knowing anything about the parent at all. When the characters older siblings and father have a clear and distinct relationship with the parent and this blame/ take their grief and sadness out on the child/ person for which the sacrifice had been made. So, I am still trying to figure out how important it is for the child/person to have a relationship / distinct memory of the parent . Especially when they are being treated differently by their immediate family members because of it.

Iâm not sure if any really make sense to me.
A pool wouldnât make sense. An adult capable of swimming wouldnât drown in a pool. If the child was young, theyâd be with you and in the shallow area. All pools have a mandatory lifeguard.
A car kind of makes sense, but not really It? It depends on the situation, though. You wouldnât die from pulling someone out of the way, but maybe if you pushed someone of the way? But even then, if itâs just like, nearby the house and theyâre driving 40 an hour, sober, the adult isnât likely to die at all.
Birth also kind of doesnât make sense because why would they go against the doctors? Is there a reason? Why would they have all their kids under medical supervision but ignore the doctors for this birth? Most common cause of death during pregnancy is stroke and heart problems. In theory, those should have existed for all her other births. Of course, itâs not always the case, but thereâs a lot of explaining to do
