While I’ll never become a writer: the guidelines

Action stories: Can’t show anyone being killed. You can have guns in stories then what are they for? I’m sorry a action story where nobody dies, not even the villains is not an action movie to me. Pretty boring.
Romance stories: No depicting sex, including what will be about to happen or what did happen. So a romantic story has to have characters in a chaste, non-sexual relationship? Who decided on this, some strict conservative?
No depiction of drugs: this is a big missed opportunity to show drugs in the negative light that they really are. We could have a lot of anti-drug stories here but another restriction we can’t get around.
Swearing: come on, I get it the bad words, but censoring minor ones? It’s like we’re living in a fairy tail world were everything is lovey dovey.

So I’ll wait until we some relaxation of rules by either giving us back our mature app or the mature section

there will be no mature app. They tried with IVY and it didnt worked so they put it down.

You also misinterpret the rules.

  1. of cause there can people be killed in your story, its about the explicity of it… I mean to make reader know somebody got killed you do not need to take 5 minutes zooms on his mutilated body

  2. Romance and sex are 2 different things, you can have a romance story and the characters do not even need to have sex ( like pride and prejudice… they do not even kiss). There can be known the characters had sex, its just about that you do not describe the sex itself.

  3. this ap is +13 it always was

  4. nobody is expecting you to write story if you do not feel like it, so feel free to wait for whats as it seems never gonna happen ( changing episode to mature app) if you like it more than writing.

actually most of romantic films do not really show sex scenes, most often you see the passion scene which will obviously lead to sex and then you see them in bed after sex, the films which realy show sex itself are minority too even for adults. Like I dont remember any romantic comedy whith would have real sex scene…

Uh I never heard any announcement of it “not working.” All we got was the announcement it was “shuttering down” without any reason why. They didn’t even given it a chance.

Your opinion but I believe if you truly love someone deeply making love is a natural progression of expressing your love to each other. I never wanted to show it, but showing them in bed after it merely HINTING that it happened doesn’t seem right to be banned.

PG rated movies are less rated then PG-13. You can show non-explicit sex scenes in PG movies. Mild swearing and violence are allowed. Also in G rated movies you can show someone being killed. If you’re telling me at 13 that thing kind of things were too intense for you, I think that’s sad.

Not trying to get them to “change” the app, but when they make an announcement that they’re going to make a compromise between the people that want to read a little more mature stories and those that don’t. Bring out the compromise (IVY) then take it away without giving reason, so leaving the issue unaddressed, I think I have a right to vent my frustration at Their lack of explanation

Which is all I want to show, but it’s banned here

Actually no, it doesn’t say how you kill them. It only said it’s not allowed

that is true, most are PG 13thats because most are badly written and teens dont complain over that

true only movies I can mention there include openly haveing sex is fifthy shades and game of thrones. and I know fifthy shades is sold as romance but the entire reletionship is so creepy and wrong. and should not be romatazised. if Christian was not rich, this would a horror

but the point is you CAN show them in bed after sex. As I told you you misinterpret the rules.

I assume you have read some episode stories in last montshs, all the stories that are now visible on app went through episode check if they are ok regarding guidelines and you have a tons of after sex bed scenes there.

No actually I read a story recently that did that “showed them smoking naked in bed” with covers covering them and it had to be removed

maby its about the “smoking naked” the point is its possible it just should not be vulgar and they should not be talking in detail what they did.

Look on all the popular mafia stories there is both killing and sex and they are on the app. Its realy about the way how you show and describe it.

They said nothing. Merely used the smoking animation. Sheets were covered. I can’t show you it as it was deleted, but maybe @AJ_PELZER can?

Can’t tell you how disrespectful it is to assume just because you can’t depict explicit sexual details on an app for teens that automatically makes someone conservative.

Not only is conflating romance with sex absolutely wrong, but it’s also harmful. Sex is not a requirement or an inherent need in an romantic relationship. It never was. It differs with different people and many do have romantic relationships without sex and are perfectly happy and not conservative in the least. Don’t understand why you’re phrasing it as such a bad thing that it doesn’t happen.

App ratings tend to work differently than TV ratings so even comparing the two doesn’t make sense. The Google and Apple play store have their own set of rules for ratings games that apps must pass review for. They are not TV operations. And app developers will most likely try their best to keep the ratings as low as they can go to attract more downloads by a wider audience AND attempt to stay within the guidelines for all kinds of play stores for wider reach, which is impossible to do with explicit descriptions which, for example, is stated in the Apple Store’s own ratings guidelines.

Want to read smut so bad? There are a ton of apps out there for you to read and write on that allows you to. This isn’t one of them.

I must have been one of the unlucky ones. I showed that and i was told it was a violation. I had it removed, but used it to my advantage as I was making fun of the rules and mentioned that it had to be removed as a joke

Againt is possible to write good romance even within the guidelines. But if you no not want to write, its perfectly OK, I am not going to convince you.

I havent seen the scene so hard to tell, of cause its still personal point of view of the person doing the check of the scene. But I have scenes which make clear characters had sex without any problem

And you know how disrespectful you are saying that wanting to read something that merely have a love scene in it is smut? You’re equation sex with pornography. Sex has been around a long time before porno. It’s not smut. It’s actually a very beautiful and natural thing.

Saying you can’t have romance with sex is silly and frankly wrong. Yah they might have romance without sex, but we’re talking about long term and marriage. If there’s no sex there I’m pretty sure that is a problem.
Maybe you’re just asexual which is fine, but don’t get angry or refer to someone as wanting to read “smut” just because they don’t see sex as “sinful”

Can I be honest here for a second? At first I thought this thread was about bringing attention to the inequality and restrictions of the guidelines, but as I read through this thread, it turned into a very strong opinion that, quite frankly, makes it seem as though you’re just mad you can’t write about s*x. You have plenty of writers here trying to give you feedback from their experiences ad what they’ve seen. They’re also trying to help you, should you choose to write a story on Episode. I would recommend listening.

EDIT: Nothing wrong with having an opinion, of course, but I think it’s gotten a little out of hand.

Again you’re equating merely one of the things I bought up. I used an example of someone else’s story because they said it was allowed and I was misinterpretating the rules. I used it to prove I’m not.
I’m fine with help, but I don’t being called the equivalent of a smut reader because I want something a little more mature. We were promised it, got it and taken away from us. What happened to the compromise l?
