I never really understood why we are able to follow authors on the Episode app, when it dosen’t even do anything??? Like we don’t get notifs when they update or post a new story so whats the point??

We used to be able to post stuff, kinda like Twitter but it was removed.

There used be a thing called “Social Feed”. It was something they were developing as a way for authors to communicate to readers about updates etc. Essentially trying to have something like Instagram on the app. People could make posts and other could leave comments etc.
It was beta tested for a year or two before Episode decided to discontinue it. I believe it wasn’t easy for them to manage. Some authors said that people were leaving hateful comments (some even left death threats) and creepy messages (asking for personal information) and unlike Instagram you couldn’t delete/block any of these. So they decided it would be best to discontinue and remove the Social Feed but they decided to leave the “following” thing for some reason.

I actually used the social feed and loved using it… It was totally a bummer when they removed it…
