Why is it best to submit your Writer's Contest stories closest to the deadline?

hiya! so someone told me one time that its best to submit/publish your story for any writers contest as close to the deadline as possible- why is that? sorry i’m just still a bit confused lol :joy:

so that way you get the most reads you can, i believe readers retention only matter once the deadline has passed so if you get 100 reads before the deadline, it still won’t count so just make the best use of eight weeks

i believe this is right or somewhat close

So they only calculate reader retention after the deadline? Do most people publish their contest entry close to the deadline? I feel like it would be harder to get enough reads if it’s so close…

yes

also yes

there’s a 3-6 week grace period to gain reads during this time which is when people try to get reads when they can

So are contest winners only announced about 3-6 weeks after the deadline?

around that time yes

So the reads only really count until after the deadline?
