Why isn't my transition working right?

Here’s my script:

INT. BEAT UP OLD KITCHEN

@transition fade in black in 2

&zoom on 585 503 to 355% in 0

&cut to zone 2

&EDWARDO spot 0.939 94 249 in zone 2 AND EDWARDO faces right AND EDWARDO is tinker_loop_rear

&NICOLAS spot 0.960 233 250 in zone 2 AND NICOLAS starts arms_crossed

See, I want it to do the transition and have the character on scene at the same time. but the transition happens first and then the character pops up. Help please!
