Will this effect a published story is I delete this?

Hi!
So, I had just now come up with a question: You know how you can upload your own overlays and backgrounds to the Writers Portal? Well let’s say I have completed my story and it’s published and I’m starting a new one, but don’t need any overlays or BG’s from my previous story (since the portal keeps literally everything for every story :pensive:). If I delete them off of my catalog, it won’t effect it in my published story right?

I"m asking this because I have lots of overlays in my catalog and even using the search bar, it gets super annoying. Plus, I’m writing 2 stories at once and they both consist of my own customize buttons.

Thank you in advance,
-Iris xx

It will matter actually, an error will pop up saying the overlays and backgrounds don’t exist!

Huh, even if the story is published and completed? Meaning, I’m no longer going to update it?

and everything will appear black as in bgs and old.

Yes! Even if the story is published, the story is still in your writer’s portal, meaning that every background and overlays in the catalog will affect your story whether published or not!

Holy cow, really :frowning:? So if an author uses tons of advanced directing with their own overlays/bgs, and has, lets say 5 stories out–their catalog will be loaded! Wow, okay thank you.

Oh, I see now. Thank you for your help <3

You must not delete any backgrounds and overlays you used in any stories, completed or not since otherwise it’ll mess up your whole story that used those backgrounds & overlays (:

I watch Bronte on YouTube and in one video she shows her art catalog and it’s literally endless kshdjjs :sob:

That’s going to get confusing for the author

I try to reuse overlays more than once. For example, if I have customisation more than once, I’ll use the same text overlay buttons instead of making new ones in a different font/colour (:

Maybe Episode should add this drop down menu where overlays and backgrounds are specifically dedicated to the stories where the overlays/bgs were uploaded to? And if overlays/bgs are reused, then there should be an option to import them from a previous story. That way you don’t have to wait for it to be approved already?

That would be so nice, i’m still working on my first story atm, but for future stories that would be super helpful and way less confusing! :heartbeat:

I think they should just add sections. Meaning that u can section them to keep organised. Each section should have no link to each other meaning that if you have a INT. CAFE-NIGHT in one section, you can have another one in each other section too but I also think there should be an overall section where u would put your backgrounds & overlays that get used in more than one story instead of uploading them again (:

You should also be able to move backgrounds & overlays out of one section and into another (:

Edit = I’ve only just realised this comment pretty much just adds detail to your idea @IrisLevont :joy:

Yeah, I think overall it should just be more organized. This would be less work in my opinion.

One more question: If I ‘hide’ my completed and published story, because I’m done and no updates need to be made, this also won’t effect it right? Sorry, things like this are still new

If u 'hide it from your account, readers can’t see it so they can’t read (:

I thought it only hid it on my end

There is a thread on folders for backgrounds. Here is the link if you want to support it. Honestly I think it would be such a great feature. I have random overlays and backgrounds everywhere in the portal. :woman_facepalming: It would be good to organize them.

Just supported, thank you!

No, it completely hides it from your account (:
