Would it be problematic for me to write a black or hispanic MC even though I’m not? I want to add more diversity but not if it’s offensive to others.
Not really. Just make sure you do a bit of research on parts of culture you might not understand, don’t use stereotypes, ask around and you’ll be fine.

Nope. As long as you write the character as a full person and not a flat collection of stereotypes, you’ll be fine. Just make sure to research the culture.

Nope. For example, one of my stories has an Italian-Latino as the MC. I’ve lived around both for most of my life, so I know (mostly) how they live, what they do…
As long as you do your research and write the character repectfully, it’s fine.
