As we all know for stories to do well we need to have gem choices etc and most authors are now using the “do you wish to support the author, YES 5 gems, NO” choices…

So I had a thought, with my story I don’t really want to grant customisation as I find my characters unique and precious to me plus ive got some art scenes which could collide with CC characters…

what if however, I offer the option of customisation to those who choose to support…

5 gems is realistically cheap-ish, and it wouldnt be me saying you need to BUY customisation, more so just a hey thanks for supporting, as a thankyou imma let you choose whether you DO wish to customise or if you want to stick with my characters bare in mind art scenes might not match up if you choose to customise.

And if customisation doesnt matter and they just wish to support then that is fine too :slight_smile: or otherwise if they dont want customisation they can choose to not spend their gems and thats alright
Idk though, I wanted peoples opinions before I go for that idea in my story?

what do you guys think on it?

i know a lot of people on episode are reading stories just because you have CC. i personally never CC. you could give those who support you a bonus scene that does not affect the story on a great level. or give them a sneak peek.

A lot of people have argued against this so probably not. Also if you are using someone else’s template, you are profiting off something people made for free most likely.

I personally don’t care about CC at all. If there is some I sometimes change a little bit, but I’ve also read stories without CC, and that was fine too.

What I would do it just either say no CC or limited. And for gem choices, make sneakpeaks, little extra scenes, if you use a point system, make it so you can buy points. Early access is also a good option in my opinion.

No, I don’t care for CC but if the author offer it through gem I am leaving, it’s greedy , wrong and I wont support it

I would also not add the CC as a gem choice and go for other types of gem choices such as the ones suggested above in the chat. :sunflower:

I wouldn’t. They might still feel like they were paying for it. Also, 5 gems isn’t cheap in time.

That sounds like a fine idea, I’m not really a fan of gem choices in general, I don’t really like that episode has done that, gem choices are pretty much the only reason I don’t read featured stories, but using gems for sneak peeks does sound reasonable :blush:

I know a few authors that offer CC for free then after that cost gems which is fair.

But if I read a story and just CC cost gems I click straight out.

I think that might make a lot of readers who like CC upset, so I’d advise not to. Personally, I don’t like when any choices need gems. When there is a “support the author” gem choice, I do my best to spend my gems (if I have any).
