Would you click on this story cover? I’m not much of an artist and it was my first time editing. Everything in the photo I made, or I AI generated (for example the background). Please give me any advice esp cuz I think the way I placed the font is not the best. If I put the text behind the character, would that be better?
Heres a diff version

Thank you for the reply! Can I ask, what made you choose the first over the second?
The reason why is because of looking at the chain bead (the purple thing)
If it’s outside the text overlay it doesn’t fit the background and everything it looks somehow
But I prefer it inside the text overlay and it’s perfect like that (the first one)

It is a good try for a first time edit. A few notes I would make from my own personal view are…
AI Generated Imaging: Given the way that AI works, I wouldn’t be inclined to use it. There is a whole big thing going on right now about how it steals work from artists and mulches it together to create something else. Because of how morally wrong that is, I think it is shouldn’t be encouraged or supported. There are lots of free use sites that can provide good images to use as backgrounds without this issue.
The Character: The hair is a little stiff, it may look a bit less rigid if you use an image perspective tool to just curve it a little bit closer to her body around the shoulder area. Also, the chains, a 3D chain wouldn’t cut to the shape of the body exactly, links would reach past the body before bending around (if that makes sense) so, the way that you’ve erased any excess link past her body makes it look a bit odd, less like a chain and more like a patterned ribbon effect. I don’t know the plot of the story, so I don’t know the importance of the chain, but as it is, I think it being wrapped entirely from head to toe looks a little less appealing, especially as the pendant then gets bigger away from the body.
The title: Definitely leave the title in front of the character, it needs to be visible. But I think the issue with the title here, is that it is quite a bland and generic font. It would probably look better with a different one that speaks to the genre. For example: Cursive works really well for romance and historical period pieces. Have a play around and see what works best.
Please do not take any offence to this. It is just my opinion and advice. It doesn’t mean you have to change it if you like it. Nor should you feel bad about creating this, it is a great first go!

Oh no I don’t take any offence. Thank you so much for the advice.
I’ve been using Ibis Paint X for editing and I haven’t come across an image perspective tool, but I will definitely check it out! For the font, I totally agree it’s a bit bland, but I use befunky to arrange the cover together and it only has limited fonts. Do you have any suggestion on how I should present the pendant? It is important to the plot. I was originally thinking of it being around her neck and glowing, but it sounded a bit too bland.

I’m familiar with ibis paint, I use it when making backgrounds
so can help there. The image perspective tool appears when you click to move something. There is the 4 way arrow, a grid and a third option at the top of it. You would click the third one.
If that doesn’t make sense, DM me and I can help a bit more there with screenshots etc. (Don’t want to go too far off topic
)
I can also advise on the fonts etc.
Thank you! I will def contact you once I work on the cover again
Yup, that’s the one. Couldn’t remember the name.
