Hi sisters, please take a moment to read this post and let me know your opinions
I am currently writing a story where 10 contestants spend a few weeks in a mansion competing in challenges and trying to survive the public vote right until the finale. But the catch is, I don’t intend on this story having a main character as such, which means you can’t really make any choices. But my question is, would you read a story where you can’t make choices or CC and you just play along as the story goes on? I want to write a story for the reality tv fans out there that love shows similar to Big Brother. Please let me know your thoughts down below! Honestly, you need a story with main characters for me to read it. I like to be able to customize them and choose the choices based on what I would do.
I once read a book with no main characters and a bunch of people and I didn’t really enjoy it.
I mean I don’t really understand the fact that you can’t have a main character, because you have to read through somebody’s prespective. but I love reality tv so I would read it
I’ve decided that the reader will get to customize and play as one of the characters in the second episode and onwards, thanks for the feedback! It would be like watching a show, which is exactly what you are going for. Like in Big brother doesn’t have a main character, you might have a character to root for but if you are not forced to support as certain character if the MC doesn’t exist. I personally don’t know how you would pull this off because usually you have your MC’S pov but if you could it would be an interesting concept that I would consider reading.
Yes i get what you mean. I’ve spent a lot of time directing so I can pull it off, I’m just worried in case people won’t like the concept when it actually comes out.
There will always be an audience for your story, most people haven’t read that type of story. They won’t know what to expect, they can’t make a judgement on that. I think if you love the idea then there will be someone who also loves that idea. I personally haven’t read any stories like that before, so it would make it stand out from the rest. Most people don’t even like the “normal” for writing anyways because it gets boring reading the same story over and over again. Write what you like not what others like as long as you don’t offend anyone you have creative freedom.
I would actually read that. I mean, unlike where I’ve got a main character, and (I know this sometimes isn’t the case) I’m supposed to be rooting for them, in this situation I can root for whoever I want to, and have a favorite couple (if your story has romance) which might not even have been the MC and their LI. It’s really interesting, actually!
I can’t say I’d read every story without an initial MC, but yours sounds really interesting! Seeing tons of different characters with different perspectives would definitely be cool to see.
I’m glad ya think so, and yes there will be tons of colliding personalities which is why I think that will make up for there not being a specific main character
