So I’ve already started writing this story and it’s the first time that I actually really like my idea.
Basically the MC is a high school girl that only hangs out with popular girls because she has no other friends and is afraid to be friendless and she lives alone(she is 18) because her mom moved to another country for her job. Her 18th bday comes, also the first day of school, and this new boy (LI) is interested in her and learns all these things about her life (that’s it’s her birthday, where she lives, her current situation with her mom.) The afternoon comes and the love interest visits the MC and brings her flowers. The MC blows a candle and wishes that her life changes. Fast forward they both fall asleep on the couch after watching epiflix and a meteor hits the house, giving the MC and the LI super powers. The next day, the news announce that a masked person threatens to destroy the city and everyone starts to panic. That’s when the MC and LI learn to use their powers and save the city.
An idea that I had is that every episode one citizen will get hypnotized by the villain and have a different ability to hurt the city.

for the meteor hitting part, you should make the TV presenter say that theres a warning of meteors hitting and they fell asleep while the presenter was talking so they didnt know, so they get suprised by it then find out they have powers. but a meteor randomly hitting the house without explanation before would leave the reader clueless
you could make them wake up in a new place full of rubble and they realise that a safety bubble protected them in the first place, which a witch created for them as theyre the chosen ones to get this power. (then the witch talks about the super powers)
this is just my idea you dont need to change ur story or what ever but this is what i think would help or inspire you.
It depends if the majority of what happens in the summary happens in the first episode. Instant connections between the MC and LI always read like exposition dumping but with the added awkwardness of being characters lol. Like if I meet a boy at school there’s no way I tell him who I live with and where, let alone fall asleep together.
So instead of no, I’d say maybe. Also — gotta ask — are you going for the same “fog of outrage”-type of obliviousness that seems to permeate from any fan of the show.
I’m not sure if I made the scene too fast forward. It is actually the 3rd scene that the characters talk, so they got to know each other in school…. They became friends in the morning and because of the LI’s interest for the MC he found out where she lived and didn’t want her to be alone for her birthday. I guess it might be too soon now that I think about it
I chose that it’s not my style, because if one citizen is hypnotized every episode, that would make it more of different stories in one book rather than an actual book. Which is not really my thing to read.
Plot. I guess I’m just not into that stuff All the capes and stuff like “we have to save the city” idk.

It’s a great idea just make sure you pace the story well. I’ve seen a lot of episode stories where things move too fast. I don’t think he should learn everything about her, visit her, fall asleep together, and get powers within the same day or the first few episodes or the pacing will be off. Unless, that was just a quick rundown of the plot and things move slower. Great idea though and I will definitely read!
In that case, I will happily read once you publish! It sounds great. I wish more writers would branch out from romance and drama and mafia stories. Sci-fi and fantasy are great.
Hey, so I had an idea. What if instead of a new boy the LI was the MC’s neighbor. That way he will automatically know where the MC lives and a lot of other things about her…
