Ohhhh my god I appreciate this so much.

… no more must I add random Narrator lines with random words like Muck and Dumb  thank you

Episode is entering the new decade on a strong note. Let’s hope the results by the survey and decisions of staff really improve for readers and especially writers.

Ohh Thank you so much for this option! Yes!
I wish it was placed somewhere else (maybe next to ā€œguideboxā€ part) because it makes more sense to keep those options together, when changing modification/helped/navigation buttons is already really confusing (I still click modificators every single time I need helpers because you switched the places). Please consider putting it on the left along with the future next options that can be switched on and off.

I agree! This totally ruined my story, and if you want to code opacity to 50% it’s all bright and ugly. I can’t have overlays fading in without looking bright, I’m so pissed…

Did you test on the app instead?

On the web previewer, using the fading technique will sometimes cause the overlay to be bright. You need to test on the app for the best, most accurate results.

Agree :100:

I’m sure we’ll still be able to write up a scene the way we want :scarf:

Thank you for this updates :yay:

Yes I tested it and it’s bright, I know in web preview is bright and on app is not, and that’s how it was, and now I saw screenshots that people sent me and now it’s bright on app as well… :pensive:

Oh my sorry to hear :pensive: After you double checked your coding, did you submit a ticket on the issue?

I will. Thank you

It’s not a good experience. It almost seems like they’re urging people to use basic directing.

This sucks because I love to use a lot of overlays in one scene for no particular reason lol. I just got the memory error from having 5 overlays on the scene

I will not use basic directing-
EVER! Literally my intro is 900 lines because of overlays and if episode thinks they can come and ruin my story during/before the beginning of the decade. They are wrong!

wait so right now we can’t do Advanced directing?

You can’t go as advanced as you like since clownschool decided we can’t use many overlays in a scene :)). So if u make perfect overlays, they’ll lag and come out in horrible quality. Directing wise, I think it’s good atm? I’m not sure lol

oh well since we can’t go super Advanced , i’ll quit episode for a while because of that update it’ll gonna destroy my story that im planning to code

This line by line mode is not helpful at all for those who do advanced directing.

I’m extremely upset right now that this feature has affected my overlays because I use many of them at a time in scenes.

What upsets me most is this:

I thought this Line by Line Mode was supposed to help writers, not readers and I’m saying this as politely as I can. This is not providing readers, writers, ANYONE, with a better experience when all you see is flashing overlays in a story.

You might suggest eliminating some overlays, but that would ruin the hard work we have put into coding and directing these scenes. It’s not fair that we have to adjust our stories, some of which have many episodes with advanced directing, just to fit the mold of this new update.

You might also say, ā€œWell, you don’t have to use Line by Line Mode, just use the default.ā€ Well, I have been, and the overlays still glitch, so there’s no resolution to that.

It upsets me that Episode can be so nonchalant about it, especially since I’m also a paying customer. This wasn’t an issue BEFORE the update, so why all of a sudden does it have to be one now?

I’ve filed a support ticket, and no one has replied back to me in 4 days. Authors and readers are threatening to quit, so I urge you to fix this, please.

If this is the update that’s affecting my overlays I’d rather not have it at all :woman_shrugging:t5:

Well… haven’t tested mine yet but I’m hesitant to do so.

This is how my overlays look like now after this update. I published 3 chapters about 4 weeks ago and they played just fine. Now they have this dark tint to it.
This scene has 4 overlays in total. And 2 are removed in it.
**they were pure white 4 weeks ago and now have a black tint surrounding it after the update.

Yeah n0.
