Writers portal issue - PLS HELP IF YOU CAN!

#1

So I’m writing an outfit choice and it’s saying that there’s an unexpected error for this choice. I don’t know what to do because all the other choices are wrong and I’m not seeing an error. Can someone pls help with this or tell me what to do so it’ll stop saying that? I’d appreciate it a lot. I’ve added an image so you can get a better understanding.

#2

You have to put the gain right after the choice I think.

Like you would have to do

“Casual”
gain Casual

#3

Tried that. Didn’t work):

#4

Delete the spaces between brackets, line 98 and 107, and move your thread to Directing Helps & Tips :slight_smile:

#5

The problem is that the } has to go on the line right before “Kinda Extra” like:

gain CUTE

}
“Kinda Extra” {

#6

and same with :

gain CASUAL

}
“Cute”

In other words, delete the line between the end bracket and the next choice.

#7

This is what it’s saying. I don’t know what to do. I tried erasing the spaces

#8

I don’t know if you’ve figured it out, but I’ll try to help anyway;

put “label clothes_choice1” before the dialogue, and “choice” after the dialogue.
you should end up with this:

label clothes_choice1
EVELYN (think)
(What should I wear today?)
choice
“Casual” {
#insert rest of the script here

#9

I tried that,now it’s saying this

#10

delete the blank on line 121.

#11

Still):

#12

still what? is it still showing an error?
send a screenshot of your script please

#13

#14

the whole dressing game please?
or try adding another “}” on line 117

#15

#16

hmm… try removing line 89

#17

I tried removing some spaces but it still says that there is a { on line 108 that doesn’t have a matching }

#18

last gain is wrong, it should be:

gain EVELYN_kinda_extra

you don’t have an underscore after kinda (gains can’t contain spaces)

This dressing game won’t work as the reader can gain all the outfits. Check this dressing game

or post of how to remember previous choices

Hi @episodejaz and welcome to the forums! Unfortunately you created this topic in the incorrect sub forum :cry:. Since this is a coding related issue and not a writer’s portal bug I have gone ahead and moved it to the Directing Help & Tips sub forum. Feel free to check out our super helpful Welcome, Start Here section of the forums for info on where to correctly create topics as well as a list of the forum rules.

I hope this has helped and please feel free to reach out to myself or our forum moderator @Sydney_H with any forum related questions. I hope you enjoy your stay with us and thanks! :v::peace_symbol:
