So I have a couple questions, first off am I allowed to show dead bodies? It will not be very graphic maybe just a little blood (From the clothing catalog on episode) and some bruises.
Second how much am I allowed to show? Say I want a scene where someone is being murdered, instead of it being off screen it’s on screen. I know it can’t show much, but what if I have the victim running or hiding but the killer catches them, and as they get out their knife it cuts to the killer then a red FLASH pops up on the screen, it then cuts to the ground and slowly pans over to the character’s hand before it fades to black. It won’t be that bad though haha just giving a short example.
And third there will be a part where a character is buried alive, it won’t be on screen but the MC will get a photo of the person getting buried. I’m planning on adding a dirt overlay, and have said person have bruises on their face. That’s really it, but will episode consider that too graphic? Should I dial it down a bit?
I’d do a choice that says, “This story contains violence. Would you like these parts of the story to be censored?” or something like that. I think (I’m not sure, but I think ) that it should be allowed if you do something similar to this. Then, maybe get some overlays (like just some black boxes) and put it over the knife at the stabbing part so you don’t have to see when she/he gets stabbed… this is a lot of work so its up to you on what you want to do.
I think what you’re planning to show is fine, but just be sure to place trigger/content warning throughout your story so readers can get an idea of what you’re going for!
Just don’t be too gory, and don’t go overboard on the use of blood.
You can do this but it should not be “too much” like slow pan in close detain on dead body with lot of blood and torture details is not OK. Think about how dead is displayed in kid films. Sometimes dead is there too but never in the gore bloody detailed version as in adult films.
Also every new story once it hits 100 in the category get reviewed by the episode stuff before it is visible on the app. So in case if they will see it as too much they will let you know. Honestly I think this is bit individual point of view.
I had 2 dead bodies with blood overlay in one scene and felt it might be on border. So I did 2 versions one with and other without the blood so reader can choice.
And it seems it went through the check without problem.
