Can I just vent for a second? I have started my story a million times and can never finish episode 1… This is beyond frustrating… everytime I think it will be good or sounds great… I loose it, I loose the idea, the inspiration, everything… Self doubt has kicked in right now and im so tempted to just say forget it right now. The smallest things such as wanting to have a characters name slide into the screen to introduce the character or Just coding in general… I have no idea what im doing. Ive read tutorials after tutorials and just feel so defeated right now. Week after week I have been stuck on episode 1 and Idk where im going with this, guess just needed to get my frustrations out to someone who possibly maybe understands… </3
I understand. Writing and episode story IS really hard. It’s just like writing a book/book series. I ISN’Teasy.
wirthing is hard. and takes time. a god idea for you would be to write the idea down before you try to write it on episode. get the plot togheter and such. dosent have to be perfeckt in anyway. just so you know what your doing
also. honeslty any autho has as least 20 documents with ideas for stories lying around. it dosent mean your a bad writer. it means you are a writer
I completely understand where you’re coming from. when i first started writing my story (in december) i just couldnt get started. i tried and tried but could never put all of my ideas together and piece every little detail i wanted. i restarted so many times from being unhappy with it i lost count. so i took a break, and awhile later i began working on it with a better perspective of how i wanted it, and what i wanted it to become. i now have 4 chapters published, a good amount of reads, and have gotten good feedback on it. dont give up! i promise if you keep working on it, you’ll get there.
It IS hard and it’s good that you acknowledge that. The only way you can make it enjoyable is if you put the fun back into it. So here are a few of my tips:
-
Be organized - plan what you are going to do, whether that be in your head or written down is up to you. Write your story in a way that is easy to understand for you (spacing, names, etc.), plan your characters so it is easier to write them (what I do is, I made a google doc that has all my characters and I wrote down everything I need to know about them, sexuality, features, personality. You can also use Notebook.ai, I know a few authors who use this and it’s REALLY helpful)
-
Figure out why you lose your inspiration. Is it because it’s a commonly used theme? Is it because you just don’t like the storyline? Is it the characters? Is it because you are forcing yourself to write it? Once you figure it out, change whatever it is you need to.
-
Pace yourself. Don’t rush yourself when writing, take regular breaks and don’t force yourself to sit down and write it. If you rush and force yourself to write you’re going to kill all creativity.
-
Communicate with Readers. Particularly if you already have a following, let people know that you are releasing a story. It’ll get you motivated and amped up to release it.
-
Many hands make light work. Maybe you need a writing group or a partner. I know this works really well for some people.
-
Music fuels creativity. Music always sparks creativity. Make yourself a playlist that fits your story, put it on, have fun writing!
-
Recieve input and ideas. If you are just so stuck you can’t think of anything, your losing inspiration, or are just bored with your story, ask the community! There are so many creative minds out there, someone’s idea is sure to spark inspiration!
I hope this helped
I get it 100% but sometimes I just need to sit myself down and write just write otherwise I know I will not.
I totally understand what you mean that is definitely me belike!!! but it’s really frustrating right??? then I am thinking am I ever going to finish a story???
Advice: you must focus on one story and choose a story about a genre you really like then you will finally really continue with your story
that helped me mabye it will help you too I hope!!
Exactlyyy then I will never finish it!!
I completely understand how you feel, I felt like this too when I first started writing my story. My story doesn’t have a lot of reads and is in Spotlight format (currently published 4 episodes), but is that going to stop me from publishing? HELL TO THE NAW. Don’t be afraid to take breaks once in a while (5 or 10 min.) in order to rest your brain. Coding takes a lot of time to learn, but don’t let this discourage you from writing your story! If you love your story, then let that love drive you to continue writing!
Like Junot Diaz said, “You see, in my view a writer is a writer not because she writes well and easily, because she has amazing talent, because everything she does is golden. In my view a writer is a writer because even when there is no hope, even when nothing you do shows any sign of promise, you keep writing anyway."
Are you really going to let self-doubt and coding discourage you from writing your amazing story? NO YOU’RE NOT!!!
