I was just wondering: how do you place and resize your characters (eg make them smaller). Thanks so so much for all of your help xx
Use spot directing 
@zoom on x y % in 1-5
Exp: @zoom on 69 61 to 197% in 1
in 1= zooming fast
in 5= zooming slow

It has nothing to do with zooming. You have to use spot directing as @Teahwalker said. To change their size, make the first value smaller. For example
@CHAR spot 1.280 100 0
You would change the bolded number to something smaller like:
@CHAR spot 0.500 100 0
