I know that there are a lot of romance stories on here, and a lot are based on teenage romance, but I’m curious to know how people feel about reading a story based on adult relationships and 18+ stories.
When it comes to 18+ stories, I normally read on ‘Wattpad’, but I don’t know the stance on ‘Episode’ as there are guidelines (which can be seen below bulletpointed), but I’ve noticed that there are stories written by Episode and people in general that have stories involving sexual scenes.
So how do people feel about 18+ stories being on Episode, and is it okay to have them on this platform?
promotes or depicts excessive violence or assault, including but not limited to sexual assault, murder, and torture against humans or animals;
includes hate speech or content that promotes hatred or discrimination against individuals or groups, on the basis of race, ethnic or national origin, religion, marital status, disability, gender, age, or sexual orientation;
promotes suicide, self-harm, abuse, or bullying;
promotes excessive alcohol, tobacco or drug use;
promotes gambling, betting or casinos;
portrays adult themes, including pornographic content, nudity, or prostitution;
slanders or libels a person or third party;
includes excessive use of profanity or sexually explicit phrases;
advertises for outside products or services, including but not limited to website links, reviews, and promotional language;
excessively promotes the use of firearms, explosives, and ammunition; or
every single thing in here is not allowed on episode., although some stories get away with it cough episode is PG13. there are of course stories with themes a 13-year-old cannot relate but again they are not allowed to portray the above
I think there should be an adult section so people 18+ can read the stories as I love the character customisation and clothing designs, but can’t make a story because I don’t want to work really hard on it for it to only get removed…
Like because episode is 13+ I don’t think these will actually work. But if they have a category which says something like 18+ stories I guess that can work? and oh! Episode doesn’t allow things like you mentioned above!

There actually used to be another Episode-derived app called Ivy that featured more mature stories.
I definitely prefer more “adult” stories, but ones that don’t break guidelines, lol. I both read and write stories that contain mature themes, however I’m personally not interested in stories that revolve around sex, abuse, etc.
I’ve read stories from other apps, but I love writing, and there aren’t many apps like Episode that I can find which gives me the opportunity to do so. I really like Episode, but I think it would be great if an 18+ category was implemented.
I think it would be great if they did as mature readers and writers would have more freedom with reading stories that suited their age group. I know the app is 13+, but I know a lot of people on the app are adults as majority of them grew up reading these since the game launched.
Adult stories do not necessarily equal “sexually explicit” content.
I am an adult, but I am not interested in anything sexually explicit nor extremely bloody and gory. I’ve written two stories that featured adult protagonists just beginning their career. The first one included romance and family drama, and the second one was about a young woman learning to become independent and deal with the responsibilities of a working adult and become a more mature person. I’m currently writing a story with teenage characters, but it’s a sweet, lighthearted story that just wouldn’t work if I made the characters older.
So I think that you can definitely write an adult story, with characters over 25, that isn’t sexually explicit nor overly violent. I seriously cannot stand it when the term “mature” is used to describe stories that are just plain sexually explicit, instead of being stories that deal with sensitive topics.
While this makes sense it wouldn’t work. The app is rated +12 so you cannot have any 18+ content on it. There wouldn’t be a way to prevent underage readers from accessing the inappropriate content. The app would be violating guidelines of Apple & Google Play
They’ve made an adult version before but they removed it before anyone had a proper chance to use it, which I think was a shame. Maybe if they’re worried about violating guidelines, they could bring their app for mature readers back?
This was was not in the present app. It was a seperate app altogether. It was never fully released,it was under testing to see whether an app like this would function or not on the Apple/Playstore. If an app like this violates the guidelines of Apple/Google it would immediately be removed even if it is 18+
